What should I do when God doesn’t make sense or I don’t understand Him?

Here's the answer:

Both kids and grown-ups struggle to understand God. He wants us to trust Him.

There are a lot of things about God that are difficult to understand. Maybe your grandma is sick or one of your friends was hurt by an adult. These things are hard to understand and sometimes it seems like God doesn’t make sense.

How should we respond? The wrong way to respond is to reject God because we can’t understand Him. That’s how a lot of people respond.

God wants us to understand that He is wiser than we are. True wisdom comes from Him. It’s no wonder we don’t understand everything He does or allows because He is far wiser and greater than anything we can understand. We can praise Him even when we don’t understand. We can also tell God we don’t understand and that we’re sad. He knows our heart and He can help us trust Him.

There are many things about God that we can understand. For example, He is good and perfect. He is perfectly holy. These are truths we can understand and it is good to think about these things. We can know enough about God to have a personal relationship with Him. That helps us trust Him with the things we don’t understand.

Bible Truth

"How very rich are God’s wisdom and knowledge! How he judges is more than we can understand! The way he deals with people is more than we can know! 'Who can ever know what the Lord is thinking? Or who can ever give him advice? Has anyone ever given anything to God, so that God has to pay them back?' All things come from him. All things are directed by him. All things are for his praise. May God be given the glory forever! Amen." (Romans 11:33-36).
