What does the Bible say about anger?

Here's the answer:

The Bible talks about righteous anger and unrighteous anger. It also says we should not be angry.

Anger is an emotion. There are two types of anger.

• Being angry for selfish reasons is a sin. If you are angry because someone damaged your pride, it is a sinful anger.

• If you are angry at something that upsets God, then it is righteous anger. For example, if you are angry because someone said something bad about God or was promoting a sinful behavior, then it is righteous anger.

Most of our anger is sinful, instead of righteous anger. Anger can quickly escalate if we do not calm down. Being angry does not bring about the righteous life God wants for you (James 1:20). Unrighteous anger can quickly lead to violence, unkind words, or hurting someone. Whenever you feel anger rising in your heart, turn to God. Ask Him to help you to calm down and give you comfort.

God can do all things, including helping you with your anger.
