What does the Bible say about honesty?
Here's the answer:
The Bible says honesty is very important. Honesty means that we are truthful.
The Bible speaks a lot of honesty and dishonesty. Honesty as a character quality is a sign of the God’s work in a person’s soul.
The Bible condemns lying and being dishonest (Psalm 101:7). God tells us plainly that He hates a deceitful (lying) tongue (Proverbs 6:16-19). It is important to be honest and always tell the truth.
Lying is a sin (Leviticus 19:11). Lying is never praiseworthy or acceptable. Sometimes you may find it tempting to lie and speak something that is not true, but this is sinning against God. Some people think white lies are not as bad, but this also is not true. All lies are lies, no matter how much we rationalize them. God wants us to be honest.
When you are speaking the truth, you also need to be kind and gentle. You shouldn’t ever say the truth in a mean way or to hurt someone’s feelings. Be gentle, tell the truth, and glorify God in all of your actions.
