What does the Bible say about magic shows?
Here's the answer:
The Bible doesn’t talk about magic shows, but it does give us some helpful information so we can make a good decision.
First, ask your parents to research the magician. Many magic shows are okay to attend as long as they are not associated with the occult. Most likely the magician you will see won’t be involved in the occult. Most kids’ magicians are actually illusionists. They perform acts that trick your eye. The Bible does not forbid you from watching an illusionist as long as you have your parents’ permission.
The Bible doesn’t say anything directly about magic shows. However, the Bible does talk about magicians. The magicians in the Bible were bad. They got their power from being involved with demons. In Exodus, there were magicians who could perform magic (Exodus 8:7). They were able to perform some magic, but their power was based in evil. As Christians, we do not need to associate with magicians involved with the occult. Stay away from those magicians.
Your parents or a trusted adult can help you make a wise decision.
Bible Truth
"In the morning he was worried. So he sent for all the magicians and wise men of Egypt. Pharaoh told them his dreams. But no one could tell him what they meant" (Genesis 41:8).
"But the magicians did the same things by doing their magic tricks. They also made frogs come up on the land of Egypt" (Exodus 8:7).
"People like that are false apostles. They are workers who tell lies. They only pretend to be apostles of Christ. That comes as no surprise. Even Satan himself pretends to be an angel of light. So it doesn’t surprise us that Satan’s servants also pretend to be serving God. They will finally get exactly what they deserve" (2 Corinthians 11:13-15).
