What does the Bible say about saving money?

Here's the answer:

The Bible tells us saving money is wise.

Money that we have saved may protect us from problems down the road. Money can be a bad thing if put it in the place of God. But if we see money as a gift from God, this won’t happen. The Bible tells us, “My God will meet all your needs. He will meet them in keeping with his wonderful riches. These riches come to you because you belong to Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19).

The ability to work and earn money comes from God. Saving money is part of budgeting our money. When you start working or earning an allowance, you can begin to save money. You should save money in order to have enough money for things in the future. Maybe you will save up money to buy a special gift for your sibling or home, go to college, or travel somewhere special.

Here are some cautions. If we save money in order to not share it with others or because we are afraid God will not provide, then we are in the saving money for the wrong reasons. If we have money, we need to be generous and help those in need. In the same way, we shouldn't save money because we are afraid God will stop providing for us. Instead, we need to share what has been entrusted to us, be good stewards of our money, and continue to trust God with every aspect of our lives, including our finances.
