Is Friday the 13th unlucky?
Here's the answer:
Friday the 13th is just like any other day!
Some people are scared when the 13th day of the month lands on a Friday. They think the day is unlucky and won’t leave their home, go to school, or play with their friends. The fear of this day has a big funny name. Ready for it? It is paraskevidekatriaphobia. Wow! When we break that big word into parts, it makes more sense: “Friday” (paraskeví), “thirteen” (dekatreís), and “fear” (phobia). It is a fear that bad things happen on Friday the 13th.
The Bible says that God is in control all the time—on your birthday, during your math test, and even on Friday the 13th. Nothing can happen that God doesn’t approve. God rules over all and has all power to do exactly as He desires, no matter what day the calendar says it is. He doesn’t want us to be afraid.
Are you scared of Friday the 13th? Talk to God about it. Tell Him that you’re scared and ask Him to help you remember that Friday the 13th is no different than any other day. God is in control all the time!
