Does God get sad?

Here's the answer:

God is sad when we disobey or when we are hurting.

Your mom and dad might get sad when you don’t do what they ask you to do, and God is the same way. When we sin, it hurts our relationship with Him. But God loves us so much, and that’s why He sent his son Jesus to die for ours sins on the cross. God will forgive everyone who is sorry for his or her sins and believes in Jesus. And from then on, when we make a mistake, God is there to help us so we can learn and not do the wrong thing again.

There are many stories in the Bible about people who disobeyed God and made Him sad. One of the stories is in Mark 14:66–72—It’s about Peter when He denied Jesus just before Jesus was crucified. Jesus forgave Peter, and Peter became a great leader in the church, but Jesus was sad that one of His good friends said that he never knew Jesus.

When we sin and make God sad, we can always talk to Him about the wrong thing we did and tell Him we’re sorry. He is always ready to forgive us!

God also gets sad when we are sad or hurting. He loves us very much, and He doesn’t like it when we have hard times. Unfortunately, because Adam and Eve chose to sin long ago, all of us have to go through pain and suffering as a consequence of sin. But God sent Jesus to die on the cross so that those who believe in Him will one day go to heaven to be with Him. And guess what? There won’t be any crying or sadness in heaven! What a great thing to look forward to.
