Are all sins equal to God?
Here's the answer:
All sin is sin in God’s eyes, but the consequences are different.
Every sin is bad. Jesus tells us that if we are angry with somebody in our heart, we are under the same judgment as a murderer (Matthew 5:21-22).
While all sin is bad and against God, the consequences of sin can be different. As an example, if you hate someone, the consequences won’t be as severe as if you murder someone. They are both still sin in God’s eyes though.
Before we place our faith in Christ, we are all on the road to eternal separation from God. It is only by Jesus’ death and resurrection that we can be forgiven of our sins. Even though all sins are bad, God can forgive each one.
Bible Truth
"You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery.’ But here is what I tell you. Do not even look at a woman in the wrong way. Anyone who does has already committed adultery with her in his heart" (Matthew 5:27-28).
"When you sin, the pay you get is death. But God gives you the gift of eternal life. That’s because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done" (Romans 6:23).
"But God is faithful and fair. If we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins. He will forgive every wrong thing we have done. He will make us pure" (1 John 1:9).
