What is a coincidence? Is there such a thing as coincidence or luck?

Here's the answer:

There is no such thing as coincidence or luck.

When people think of a coincidence, they think of something that comes together in a surprising way. But while we sometimes can be surprised by how things work out, God never is. Things don't work out by luck or coincidence, but by God’s awesome plans.

In Acts 12, Peter was arrested because of his preaching of the gospel, and Acts 12:5 says the church was praying for Peter. Later, an angel actually freed Peter from prison in response to the prayers of the church. When Peter came back to the church, they didn't believe it was really him at first. They had prayed for God to rescue Peter, but they acted like it was a coincidence that he was there after they prayed! Do you think it was coincidence? Or do you think God had this planned all along? (Hint: God plans everything!)

God works on purpose! He loves you, and when we see things that are working for good in our lives, we can know they come from God. "Every good and perfect gift is from God. It comes down from the Father" (James 1:17a).

Bible Truth

"A man may have many plans in his heart. But the LORD’s purpose wins out in the end" (Proverbs 19:21).

"Remember what happened in the past. Think about what took place long ago." "I am God. There is no other God. I am God. There is no one like me. Before something even happens, I announce how it will end. In fact, from times long ago I announced what was still to come. I say, 'My plan will succeed. I will do anything I want to do'" (Isaiah 46:9–10).
