What does it mean to confess my sin? What is confession?
Here's the answer:

Confessing your sin means that you admit what you did and agree with God that what you did was wrong. Confession is when you tell your sin to God and ask for forgiveness.
Whenever we do something wrong, we normally feel bad about it. This can lead us to confessing our sin. Confessing our sin means that we own up to our sin, turn to God, tell Him what happened, and ask for forgiveness. When we confess our sins, we are admitting before God that what we did is wrong. It is good to confess our sins because it brings us back to God.
Closely related to confession is repentance. While they are not the same thing, confession can lead us to repentance. They are different because confession only means we admit that what we did was wrong, but repentance means that we want to change our actions. True change cannot happen apart from repentance.
Rather than turning away from confession or repentance, we need to turn toward these things. There are many things that can cause us to not confess our sins to God, such as being prideful, wanting to justify our actions, or blaming others. God doesn't want us to do any of these things. Instead, we need to own up to our own sins and truly start repenting of them.
When we sin, we need to confess our sin to God and ask for His forgiveness. He is faithful, and He will forgive us (1 John 1:9). When we sin against someone else, we need to confess our sins to them and apologize. If someone sins against us, we need to likewise extend forgiveness to them.

Bible Truth
"Live in a way that shows you have turned away from your sins" (Matthew 3:8).
"But God is faithful and fair. If we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins. He will forgive every wrong thing we have done. He will make us pure" (1 John 1:9).
"So confess your sins to one another. Pray for one another so that you might be healed. The prayer of a godly person is powerful. Things happen because of it" (James 5:16).
