How can I take control of my thoughts?

Here's the answer:

Read the Bible, depend on the Holy Spirit, feed your mind good things, pursue God, and have fellowship with other believers.

Taking control of our thoughts can be a struggle. Even though it is a struggle, we must control our thoughts. The Bible tells us, “Above everything else, guard your heart. Everything you do comes from it” (Proverbs 4:23). The heart also includes the mind, which means we have to guard what goes into our minds. If we fill it with bad things, it will damage our overall well-being. But if we fill our minds with God-honoring things, it will positively affect our well-being.

• One way to take control of your thoughts is to read the Bible. You will see what God wants to tell you by reading the Bible. You will also learn many important truths from the Word.

• A second thing you can do is to depend on the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is living inside you from the moment you are saved. Listen to Him, go to Him in prayer, and fully depend on Him.

• A third thing you can do is to feed your mind good things. Just as we need healthy foods to be strong, we need healthy thoughts to keep our minds in a good place. If we are feeding our mind bad things, bad thoughts will be a result.

• A fourth thing we can do is to pursue God with our entire heart.

When you do this, you will be totally focused on God instead of anything bad. Lastly, spend time with other believers. They will be able to encourage you and build you up. If you are a believer, know that God can help you take control of your thoughts. If you are not yet a believer, know that you can become a follower of Jesus today by believing that He died for the bad things you have done, was buried, and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).

"Let us consider how we can stir up one another to love. Let us help one another to do good works. And let us not give up meeting together. Some are in the habit of doing this.
