Do demons exist?
Here's the answer:
Yes, demons exist and they are real spiritual beings.
God is more powerful than the demons. Demons are not like what you have seen them depicted as in movies and television shows. They are not big black masses or little men with horns. Demons are the fallen angels who freely chose to follow Satan rather than follow God. Since they are fallen angels, they do have power, but their power is limited (2 Thessalonians 2:6-7).
The Bible does not tell us exactly what demons look like, but we do know that they can disguise themselves as beautiful things (2 Corinthians 11:14). If demons would take on a physical body, they would most likely choose something pretty to trick humans, not scary forms as shown in movies. Demons are evil, so we should not be surprised that they are just as deceptive as Satan. They are so evil that they are called “evil spirits” and “unclean spirits” in the Bible. Several of the false “gods” worshipped in the Old Testament were actually demons (Deuteronomy 32:17).
Demons want us to be unproductive for Jesus and try to cause us difficulties, but we don’t have to be tricked by them. Jesus has already defeated Satan and his demons, so there is no reason to be afraid. Demons do exist and they like to deceive humans, but as believers, we can take up our stand against them with the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18).
Bible Truth
"Jesus called for his 12 disciples to come to him. He gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every illness and sickness" (Matthew 10:1). "When people controlled by evil spirits saw him, they fell down in front of him. The spirits shouted, 'You are the Son of God!'" (Mark 3:11). "Also, pick up the shield of faith. With it you can put out all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Put on the helmet of salvation. And take the sword of the Holy Spirit. The sword is God’s word" (Ephesians 6:16-17).
