Is it ok to hate myself?
Here's the answer:
No, you shouldn’t hate yourself. God loves you.
There are times when many of us hate ourselves. God doesn’t want us to hate ourselves. God wants us to live our lives in the freedom and love that He has given us (John 10:10). We cannot do this if we are constantly at war with ourselves.
Maybe you messed up on a test, said something mean to your parents, or betrayed a friend. All of these things can make you sink into self-hatred. When you feel you're sinking, turn to God. Know that God has forgiven all of your mistakes and you are a new creation in Him (1 John 1:9; 2 Corinthians 5:17).
God does not want you to hate yourself. He loves you and that will never change. He is loving, caring, holy, compassionate, and full of mercy (1 Peter 1:16; Psalm 103:8-12). God wants you to see yourself as He does—His beloved child. Turn to God when you feel self-hatred and allow Him to surround you with His love. Accept the truth that you are loved by God, the Creator Himself. This is the only way that self-hatred can go away.
If you are struggling with thoughts of hating yourself, tell a trusted adult. That person can help you get help.
