Is Satan a spirit?
Here's the answer:
Since Satan was originally created by God as an angel and because all angels are spirits, Satan is also a spirit.
Satan rebelled against God and was cast out of Heaven because of his pride and wickedness. Other angels followed him in his rebellion and they are now called his demons. Since Satan and his demons were sent out from Heaven, they are now fallen angels. All angels, whether fallen or not, are spirit (Hebrews 1:14).
Satan and his demons enjoy causing pain to people because they are evil and hate mankind. The Bible tells us that Satan has blinded unbelievers, so that they cannot believe in Jesus (2 Corinthians 4:4). Demons can go into unbelievers and animals since they are spiritual beings, but Jesus does have the power to drive them out (Mark 5:1-13). Since Satan is spirit, he can work within the spiritual realm where we cannot see him. Since Satan and his demons are spirit, they like to attack people spiritually.
So how can we protect ourselves from Satan’s attacks? Since Satan is spirit, the best way for us to fight against him is by using the Bible. The Bible contains the very words of God and we can fight against Satan’s lies by refuting them with the truth of what God says in the Bible (2 Corinthians 10:3-4). Satan is spirit, but He can only do what God allows him to do according to God’s purposes. We do not need to be afraid because God will protect us and keep us safe.
