What is body image? As a kid, how can I have a healthy body image?
Here's the answer:
Body image is how you feel about your body. You can have a healthy body image by listening to God rather than the world.
Body image is a popular subject in the world today. Some people have a healthy body image, but others have a negative body image. A negative body image can sometimes lead to hard things like eating disorders, depression, and anxiety. It is good to work on having a healthy body image because it can help you in all areas of life.
It is important to note that having a healthy body image doesn’t mean you fit the criteria of beauty in the modern day. Rather, having a healthy body image means you understand that God created you, no matter what your body looks like. Make sure you do not become obsessed with looking a particular way because that will only lead to problems. Focus on what God says about you instead of what the world or others say.
God says that God created you as amazing and wonderful (Psalm 139:13-16). You do not need to degrade your body or think badly of it. Each of our bodies were uniquely designed by God. You never need to feel ashamed or bad about the way God created you.
Instead, you can work on having a healthy body image by knowing your worth in Jesus and knowing that He says you are beautiful as you are. You are a beloved child of God. Even if other people have said mean things to you, know that God’s opinion of you is the only one that matters. In everything, you need only to please Him—not the world, the culture, or other humans.
Bible Truth
"Brothers and sisters, God has shown you his mercy. So I am asking you to offer up your bodies to him while you are still alive. Your bodies are a holy sacrifice that is pleasing to God. When you offer your bodies to God, you are worshiping him in the right way" (Romans 12:1).
"You created the deepest parts of my being. You put me together inside my mother’s body. How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. What you have done is wonderful. I know that very well" (Psalm 139:13-14).
"Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple? Don’t you know that God’s Spirit lives among you?" (1 Corinthians 3:16).
