As a kid, can I give an offering?
Here's the answer:
Yes, God can use your offering to help people.
Even though you are young, you can give an offering. God is clear that He loves a cheerful giver (2 Corinthians 9:6–7). At church, you have probably seen an offering plate being passed around, or maybe there is an offering box at the back of the church. If you want to give, know that you can. It would be good to talk with your parents ahead of time and let them know you will be giving an offering.
There is not an age limit when it comes to giving an offering. God sees your heart and your genuine desire to give. It is a beautiful thing for God to see His children giving freely. When we give freely, it shows we want to give to the Lord for no purpose other than to help others and give to the cause of the church. Even if nobody notices your offering, know that God does.
However, you should not give an offering to win the approval of others. Don’t give an offering if it is for the purpose of making other people like you. This is wrong, as it comes from wrong motives. When you give an offering, it should be done because you want to. If you are not to this place yet, talk to a grown up about your feelings.
Bible Truth
"Here is something to remember. The one who plants only a little will gather only a little. And the one who plants a lot will gather a lot. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give. You shouldn’t give if you don’t want to. You shouldn’t give because you are forced to. God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:6–7).
"Give, and it will be given to you. A good amount will be poured into your lap. It will be pressed down, shaken together, and running over. The same amount you give will be measured out to you" (Luke 6:38).
"In everything I did, I showed you that we must work hard and help the weak. We must remember the words of the Lord Jesus. He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive'" (Acts 20:35).
