What does "living for Jesus" mean?
Here's the answer:
"Living for Jesus" means that we continue to make Jesus known today. We show the world through our actions and words that Jesus is living in us.
The dictionary defines living as "continuing to be alive." God wants us to live a life that honors Him. When we live a life that honors God, we are living our life for Him. While Jesus is not physically on earth, we can show the world that Jesus is living inside of us by our actions and our words. Sometimes it is hard for us to live for Jesus. Someone in school might make fun of our faith, or we might be going through a rough time, but no matter what happens in life, we can still do our best to live for Jesus.
Paul, in Galatians 5:22-23, talks about the fruit of the Holy Spirit. The fruit of the Spirit is "love, joy and peace. It is being patient, kind and good. It is being faithful and gentle and having control of oneself." This verse tells how we can be like Jesus when we show love to our friends, our families, and our teachers.
Another way we show that we are living for Jesus is to show that we have faith in Him. Faith is important for us because "without faith, it is impossible to please God" (Hebrews 11:6). The Bible defines faith as "being sure of what we hope for. It is being sure of what we do not see" (Hebrews 11:1). Hebrews 11 talks about many people who had great faith, like Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Sarah, and on and on. These people were living for Jesus because when God told them to act, they obeyed. When God tells us to act, we can choose to do the same!
