Why is it important to obey God?
Here's the answer:
God created us to obey Him!
When we disobey God, we do something we were not created to do. Think about your bike. When you ride it on the street or at the park, it works well. But if you tried to ride your bike in the lake, it wouldn’t work! You would sink to the bottom because your bike wasn’t created to work in the lake. God created you to obey Him. He knows what works and what makes you happy, so that is why He created you to obey Him.
We learn how to obey God by reading the Bible. It tells us about God and what He wants us to do. One way we can obey God is found in Matthew 22:37–39, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your mind...Love your neighbor as you love yourself." When we love God and other people, we obey God. And guess what? Obeying God is the best way to show that we love Him!
God loves us more than anyone else does. He wants what is best for us. That’s why it is important to obey Him.
