How do I receive comfort when someone close to me dies?
Here's the answer:
God can give you comfort when a loved one dies.
It is sad when a loved one dies. It hurts. It may feel like a part of you was ripped out. You will most likely miss the person a lot. When someone close to you dies, turn to God. He will give you the comfort that you need. The Bible tells us, “Turn all your worries over to him. He cares about you” (1 Peter 5:7).
Jesus knows how you are feeling. During Jesus’ earthly life, His dear friend Lazarus died. Jesus was so sad that He wept (John 11:35). When a loved one dies, it is okay to cry. Turn to God and tell Him how you are feeling. God wants you to come to Him and He will give you the comfort that you need.
You can also be comforted to know that your loved one is with Jesus if they believed in Him. All people who believe in Jesus go to heaven when they die.
God is our source of comfort. Go to Him and He will give you comfort.
Bible Truth
"Give praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! He is the Father who gives tender love. All comfort comes from him. He comforts us in all our troubles. Now we can comfort others when they are in trouble. We ourselves receive comfort from God" (2 Corinthians 1:3-4).
"But God comforts those who are sad. He comforted us when Titus came" (2 Corinthians 7:6).
"Whoever rests in the shadow of the Most High God will be kept safe by the Mighty One. I will say about the Lord, 'He is my place of safety. He is like a fort to me. He is my God. I trust in him'" (Psalm 91:1-2).
