What has sin done to our world? What is the result of sin?
Here's the answer:
Sin is the cause of all bad and evil things.
At the time God created the world, there was no sin. God said everything was perfect. Can you imagine a world where everything is perfect? In that world, no bad things happened! No one got sick and there was no pain. All kids were nice and no one was a bully.
When sin entered, the world wasn’t perfect anymore. In fact, everything that is wrong with the world is because of sin. Sin causes sickness, death, natural disasters, abuse, and all other bad things.
We are all sinners. Romans 3:23 says, "Everyone has sinned. No one measures up to God’s glory." Notice that verse says, "everyone" has sinned. That means that your pastor sins, and so do your teachers, your parents, and your friends. Even the most spiritual person you know has sinned.
God knew that sin would ruin the world, so He sent His Son to die for sin and allow a way for us to be forgiven. That’s good news!
"When you sin, the pay you get is death. But God gives you the gift of eternal life. That’s because of what Christ Jesus our Lord has done" (Romans 6:23).
"The created world was held back from fulfilling its purpose. But this was not the result of its own choice. It was planned that way by the one who held it back. God planned to set the created world free. He didn’t want it to rot away. Instead, God wanted it to have the same freedom and glory that his children have" (Romans 8:20-22).
