How can I stop having negative thoughts?
Here's the answer:
God’s Word says we are to turn to God and think about what is true.
Turning to God is the main way to stop having negative thoughts. If a person has depression, anxiety, or another mental health concern, the negative thoughts are due to the condition. It is not a lack of faith. The negative thoughts related to various mental health conditions can be treated by therapy and medications. If you are struggling with a mental health condition and are having negative thoughts, reach out to a parent or a trusted adult.
If a person does not have any mental health concerns and still has negative thoughts, it could be due to the person struggling with their faith. If a person repeatedly doubts God or His goodness, it could be they need some encouragement. If you are having negative thoughts, reach out to God in prayer. He can help you. Talk to a trusted adult like your pastor, Sunday School teacher, or a parent.
The Bible tells us to think about whatever is true, noble, right, pure, lovely, worthy of respect, excellent, or worthy of respect (Philippians 4:8). Thinking about these things can help negative thoughts go away. Satan wants to make us ineffective for Christ and he will make us feel bad about ourselves. This is why we need to put on the full armor of God and keep our mind protected by the Word (Ephesians 6:10-18).
