Was Satan an angel?

Here's the answer:

Yes, Satan was an angel.

Satan is described as a cherub angel. He was one of the most powerful and beautiful angels, but he chose to sin against God. Satan sinned against God because he did not want to worship God...he wanted God to worship him. He wanted to be God.

Because of their sin, God cast Satan and the angels who followed him out of Heaven. Never again would they regain their position in Heaven. Satan was an angel, but after he sinned against God, he became a fallen angel. The angels who chose to follow Satan are also called fallen angels and the Bible refers to them as demons or Satan’s angels (Matthew 25:41)

Since Satan and his demons rebelled against God, their ultimate end is already written in stone. God will cast Satan and his demons into the Lake of Fire, where there will be never ending punishment (Revelation 20:10). We never need to be afraid of Satan because God is more powerful than him!
