What are evil spirits?

Here's the answer:

The Bible tells us that evil spirits are just another name for demons.

Evil spirits are another name for demons and they can also be called "unclean," "impure," or "lying" spirits. Evil spirits are exactly what they sound like...evil and wicked supernatural beings, who go against God and everything He stands for. Evil spirits go against God and do wicked things to humans, but God still has control over them. They can only do what God has allowed them to do in order to carry out His purposes. In the Old Testament, an evil spirit caused much pain to Saul and this evil spirit was sent by God to fulfill His purpose (1 Samuel 16:14-15). Now, this does not mean that God created evil, but it does mean that God can use bad things and turn them into something good for His will.

When we look at the New Testament, we see that evil spirits can cause people to have pain, suffering, and to become sick. Jesus showed His power over the evil spirits because He drove out the evil spirits and He would heal the people who had been made sick by the evil spirits (Matthew 8:16). The evil spirits are afraid of Jesus because they know that He is God and that He has ultimate power over them (Matthew 8:29). Jesus can look at the evil spirits and they go running for the hills!

In the future, Jesus will judge and ultimately destroy all evil spirits. Evil spirits are wicked supernatural beings, who go against God and they want to cause people to have troubles. We can take up our stand against them by trusting God and putting on the armor of God (Ephesians 6:13). Evil spirits are wicked and ruthless, but we can rest assured that Jesus has control over them and He can use them to accomplish His purposes.
