What is an atheist?
Here's the answer:
An atheist is a person who believes that God is not real.
Do you know someone who says they are an atheist? Atheism is nothing new because even King David had atheists in his life (Psalm 14:1)! Atheists believe that there is no God. They believe God is made up like a fairy tale. Christians know that God is real.
Despite what atheists believe, belief in God is not silly. God clearly shows Himself being real in creation and in His Word. The Bible tells us; “The heavens tell about the glory of God. The skies show that his hands created them” (Psalm 19:1). Just by seeing the sky, flowers, and animals proves to us that God is real.
Since atheists don’t believe in God, they are not part of God’s family and will not go to heaven when they die. If someone we know is an atheist, we should do all we can to tell them about Jesus. Jesus loves everyone and He wants all people to know that He is real. God wants all people to join His family.

"The truth about God is plain to them. God has made it plain. Ever since the world was created it has been possible to see the qualities of God that are not seen. I’m talking about his eternal power and about the fact that he is God. Those things can be seen in what he has made. So people have no excuse for what they do" (Romans 1:19-20).
"The heavens tell about the glory of God. The skies show that his hands created them. Day after day they speak about it. Night after night they make it known. But they don’t speak or use words. No sound is heard from them. Yet their voice goes out into the whole earth. Their words go out from one end of the world to the other" (Psalm 19:1-4).
