What is prayer?

Here's the answer:

Prayer is talking to God.

When we have a good friend, we want to talk to him or her! Talking to each other is part of being friends. God wants us to share our lives with Him. He wants us to talk to Him about everything!

We can talk to God anywhere we are. We don’t need to be at church or kneeling by our beds. God hears us pray wherever we are.

What is prayer? The best thing about talking to God is that He cares about us more than anyone else. He is never too busy to listen. In fact, He is always listening—even in the middle of the night. He can help us whenever we need it. He wants us to ask Him for the things we need. It makes Him happy to answer our prayers.

It is important to remember that prayer isn’t just asking God for things. Prayer is a form of worship. Prayer is a way to get closer to God. Through this worship, God can change us. He changes our thoughts and our desires. We come to love Him more when we pray.

Bible Truth

"At all times, pray by the power of the Spirit. Pray all kinds of prayers. Be watchful, so that you can pray. Always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people" (Ephesians 6:18).

"Don’t worry about anything. No matter what happens, tell God about everything. Ask and pray, and give thanks to him. Then God’s peace will watch over your hearts and your minds. He will do this because you belong to Christ Jesus. God’s peace can never be completely understood" (Philippians 4:6-7).
