What is salvation?

Here's the answer:

The word salvation means to be saved from something. In the Bible, the word salvation is often used when it talks about being saved from sin.

When we sin, it means we make a wrong choice that disobeys God’s rules and goes against the life He wants us to live. The Bible says, “Everyone has sinned” (Romans 3:23). Because we all have sinned, we all need to be saved from the punishment for sin, which is death and separation from God forever in a place called hell.

But the good news is that God made a way for everyone to receive salvation! Two thousand years ago, God sent His Son, Jesus, to die on a cross and take the punishment for our sins. Jesus then rose from the dead and went back to heaven. Because Jesus did this, anyone and everyone who is sorry for his or her sin and believes in what Jesus did on the cross can receive salvation! And one day, everyone who has received salvation will live forever with God in heaven.

Do you want to receive God’s free gift of salvation? If so, you can pray this prayer to show God that you want to follow Him and be saved from your sin. Praying can’t give you eternal life—only God can do that. God can save you by giving you faith in Jesus. The prayer is a way to show God that you’re turning in faith to Jesus.

"Dear God, I'm sorry for going my own way and sinning against You. I deserve to die for my sins and be separated forever from You. But I believe Your perfect Son, Jesus, took the punishment for sin by dying on the cross. Then He rose from the dead, showing that He won the victory over sin and death. I now turn from my sin and trust Jesus as my Savior from sin. I will follow the Lord Jesus now!"
