Who are the people of God?
Here's the answer:
People of God are those who have placed faith in Jesus by believing that He died for their sins, was buried, and rose from the grave.
In the Old Testament, only Israel was said to be the people chosen by God (Ezekiel 38:14). However, when Jesus came to die for our sins, He opened the way for all people to become part of the people of God (Galatians 3:28). Anybody who places faith in Jesus becomes a part of the people of God.
We cannot become part of the people of God by our nationality, the good things we do, or anything else. We only become a part of the people of God when we surrender to God and believe that Jesus died for our sins (the bad things we do), was buried, and rose from the dead. It has to be our own independent decision. Once we accept Jesus and what He has done for us, we are forever part of the people of God. It’s like we are all one big happy family!
As believers, we are the people of God. Since we are the people of God, we need to praise God by living in a way that honors Him. The best we can show God that we are thankful to be a part of His people is by obeying what He tells us in the Bible. Since we are the people of God, we love God and He loves us!
Bible Truth
"...I set the heavens in place. I laid the foundations of the earth. I say to Zion, 'You are my people'" (Isaiah 51:16).
"I want to preach it because I’m not ashamed of the good news. It is God’s power to save everyone who believes. It is meant first for the Jews. It is meant also for the Gentiles" (Romans 1:16).
