Why do kids swear?
Here's the answer:
Some kids have never been taught that swearing is bad. They might think that swearing makes them look cool or maybe they are trying to act older.
Kids might hear swear words at home or from their friends or maybe they watch movies or TV shows where people use swear words.
Swearing is a bad habit and it is not honoring to God. When people swear, it shows a bad heart-attitude. In the Bible we learn that the words we use show what is in our heart. When bad words come out, it means that our heart is messy too.
Jesus wants to come into our lives and clean us up. God's Holy Spirit can help us see life in a more positive and God-honoring way. Then our words can be helpful to others instead of hurting them.
Bible Truth
"LORD, guard my mouth. Keep watch over the door of my lips" (Psalms 141:3).
"With our tongues we praise our Lord and Father. With our tongues we curse people. We do it even though people have been created to be like God. Praise and cursing come out of the same mouth. My brothers and sisters, it shouldn't be this way" (James 3:9-10).
"Don't let any evil talk come out of your mouths. Say only what will help to build others up and meet their needs. Then what you say will help those who listen" (Ephesians 4:29).
