Why do people do bad things and commit crimes?
Here's the answer:
Every person does bad things because of sin.
When God first made our world, He called it good (Genesis 1:31). Then Adam and Eve sinned when the serpent (Satan) tricked them in the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3). Sin has been in the world ever since. Every person sins (Romans 3:23) and only God can forgive our sins (1 John 1:9).
The Bible promises three good things about sin. First, God even works through bad things to complete His plans (Genesis 50:20). Second, Jesus came so we can be forgiven of our sins and have new life (1 John 5:13). Third, sin will not last forever. One day God will create a new heaven and earth where there will be no sin (Revelation 22:3).
Bible Truth
"Everyone has sinned. No one measures up to God’s glory" (Romans 3:23).
"But God is faithful and fair. If we confess our sins, he will forgive our sins. He will forgive every wrong thing we have done. He will make us pure" (1 John 1:9).
