Why does God send people to hell?

Here's the answer:

God doesn’t want to send anyone to hell. People choose to reject Him.

Some people are nice to us and some people are mean, but compared to God, all of us are mean! God is perfect and we can never live up to that standard (Romans 3:23). God has to punish sin—no matter who is sinning. The Bible says that the punishment is death and separation from Him (Romans 6:23).

God loves each person so much. He wants everyone to be in heaven with Him, so He sent Jesus to die in our place and forgive our sins. We can accept Jesus’ free gift of salvation. Then we’ll spend eternity in heaven, not hell. God forgives any person who accepts Jesus as Savior. They will be part of God's family and go to heaven.

Sadly, not everyone accepts Jesus’ free gift of salvation.
