If I swear, can I still go to heaven?

Here's the answer:

God doesn’t decide who goes to heaven based on whether we swear.

If we have trusted in Jesus for salvation, we will go to heaven. As believers, sometimes we sin. For example, we might swear or spread a rumor about someone. This does not mean we lose our salvation.

God warns us not to sin because it dishonors Him. It is also a bad witness. What does that mean? God wants the world to see something different in His children. Our relationship with Him should impact the way we live. Our friends will notice that we are different because we don’t want to do bad things. Instead, we want to honor God with our lives. This includes not swearing or saying bad things.

If we do swear, we can tell God we are sorry and ask Him to help us use kind words. He will forgive us!

As children of God, we want to say and do things that honor God. We should always try to speak and do what is right.
