What does the Bible say about work?

Here's the answer:

Work is a good thing. God Himself works, as He created the entire universe and everything in it (Genesis 1–2:3).

We may hear people complain about work, but work is actually a good thing. Work helps us to be productive and make a living. While some jobs are better than others, work is a blessing. God Himself works, and His completed work is shown to us throughout His creation (John 5:17).

Since God works, it is safe to say work is good. Work can be hard, tiring, and messy due to the fall of man, but work is still a good thing. Rather than seeing work in a bad light, we need to see it as an opportunity to serve the Lord. You may be too young to start working, but you can start preparing now. You can do your chores without complaining and help others in a kind way. It is important to be a good worker and work as though you are working for the Lord (Colossians 3:23).

Once you start working, you will see how great of an opportunity it is. Even though our present-day work has been polluted by sin, the concept of work will be restored in the New Heaven and New Earth (Isaiah 65:17–25). At this time, work will no longer be stressful or tiring. Instead, it will be what it was always created to be: joyful and fulfilling.
