Was Jesus married? Did He have children?
Here's the answer:
Jesus probably didn't get married or have children when He was on earth.
Although there is no chapter or verse that says Jesus never got married, The Bible can help us to know whether or not Jesus was married and had children.
First, the Bible says nothing about Jesus having a wife or children. This would have been an important detail that the Bible writers wouldn't have wanted to leave out!
Second, Jesus' ministry was not suited for family life. Jesus traveled a lot and never remained in one place for very long (Matthew 8:20). A good husband and father should care for his family's needs. Jesus' lifestyle would not have been good for a family. And Jesus always made sure to do the right thing!
Remember, Jesus' mission was to seek and save people who are lost (Luke 19:10), not to become a family man. God loves the family, but when God the Father sent His Son to earth, the Son's mission was to die for our sins and then come back to life three days later.
But here's a surprise: Jesus does have children! All the people who believe in Him are called His children. We are His adopted sons and daughters. If you are a born-again follower of Jesus, you are His child forever and ever! And did you know that the sons and daughters of a king are princes and princesses? Since Jesus is King of the universe, we are His princes and princesses! If you believe in Jesus, you are a royal child of King Jesus!
Bible Truth
"But then the right time came. God sent his Son...He came to set free those who were under the law. He wanted us to be adopted as children with all the rights children have" (Galatians 4:4–5).
"The Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world" (1 John 4:14a).
