Do we have to follow the Old Testament law now?

Here's the answer:

We are no longer bound to follow the Old Testament law. Jesus fulfilled it.

There was no way for a person to fully keep the Old Testament law. As soon as we sin, we break God`s law. The reason for the law was to point us to Jesus and to show us our need for a Savior (Galatians 3:24). Since we couldn’t keep the law, Jesus came to fulfill the law and to save us from what separates us from God—sin.

We are still told to still follow the principles of the law—"To love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your strength and all your mind." We're also to "love your neighbor as you love yourself" (Luke 10:27). Even though we can never do these things perfectly, Jesus gives us His power through the Holy Spirit to help us follow those two principles. Then He offers forgiveness when we fail.
