What if two people pray for opposite things at the same time? Which one will receive an answer to prayer?

Here's the answer:

God sees our needs and knows what is best.

You might pray for a beautiful sunny day so you can play outside with your friends. At the same time, your parents might pray for rain so that your family’s lawn will grow. Who will God answer? Both people praying have good requests, but they are opposite of each other.

God is all-powerful. He is wise and knows everything so He can work all things out for His glory. It is important to remember that God always answers your prayers. Sometimes He says "yes," sometimes "no," and sometimes "wait." How will God answer the prayer for nice weather? We don’t know.

When God answers our prayer differently than we want, we can thank God because He knows what is best. He sees the whole picture.

"Our God is in heaven. He does anything he wants to do" (Psalm 115:3).

"...You don't have what you want, because you don't ask God. When you do ask for something, you don't receive it. That’s because you ask for the wrong reason..." (James 4:2-3).
