I want to become a pastor when I grow up. What can I do to prepare?
Here's the answer:
If you want to be a pastor when you grow up, then you have made a GREAT choice!
There are some ways you can prepare yourself. Just like kids who want to be firefighters, teachers, soldiers, or doctors, there are things you can do to get ready for being a pastor.
Love Jesus. To be a pastor, you need more than just a lot of knowledge. You need to love Jesus. Get to know Him better by reading your Bible every day. Pray every day. Tell others about Jesus. Show that you love Jesus by obeying what He says.
Love people. When you are a pastor, you will help people all the time. You need to help them because you love them. Start now by loving your family, the people in your church, and the other kids at school. Don’t just tell them that you love them. Show them love by helping them any time they need help.
Also, get to know your pastor. Ask him a lot of questions.
Remember, God used Samuel while he was still very young. God can use you, too.
Bible Truth
"Here is a saying you can trust. If anyone wants to be a leader in the church, they want to do a good work for God and people" (1 Timothy 3:1).
"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your mind and with all your strength.’ And here is the second one. 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.' There is no commandment more important than these." (Mark 12:30-31).
