What was God doing before He created us?
Here's the answer:
Before the universe was created, God lived joyfully alone in eternity as the Trinity (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit).
It's hard for our human minds to understand that God has no beginning—that He always has been and always will be. So what was He doing for so long before He created the world we call home?
Before time began, all three members of the Trinity (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) existed together in perfect relationship, having everything they needed in each other. The Bible tells us in Psalm 16:11 that being with God brings joy and endless pleasure. So God has always felt perfect joy and happiness in Himself, without needing anyone else.
We also see in the Bible that before humans were even created, God was planning to send Jesus, His Son, to save us from our sin (Ephesians 1:4–5; 2 Timothy 1:9; John 17:24). But besides this, anything else that went on before creation is a mystery. God has not chosen to tell us.
We can thank God for His greatness and praise Him that He has always had a plan to save us! It’s wonderful to know that if we have trusted Jesus for salvation, we will one day be with Him forever, experiencing perfect joy and endless pleasures! Bible Truth
"God chose us to belong to Christ before the world was created. He chose us to be holy and without blame in his eyes. He loved us. So he decided long ago to adopt us as his children. He did it because of what Jesus Christ has done. It pleased God to do it" (Ephesians 1:4-5).
"[Jesus said,] So now, Father, give glory to me in heaven where your throne is. Give me the glory I had with you before the world began" (John 17:5).
