Do we have to dress up nice when we go to church?
Here's the answer:
It’s okay to dress up when you go to church, but you don’t have to.
God cares more about the kind of heart we have at church than the clothes we wear. Still, there’s nothing wrong with dressing up for church. For some kids, wearing fancy clothes to church might help them remember to honor God and pay attention. If your parents ask you to dress up, then you should out of obedience to them. But what we wear can’t make God love us more or less.
We need to go to church with the right attitude, excited to worship our heavenly Father and God’s Son, Jesus! God looks at our hearts, and He wants them to be clean and focused on Him, not on the clothes we—or others around us—are wearing.
Bible Truth
"I [the Lord] do not look at the things people look at. Man looks at how someone appears on the outside. But I look at what is in the heart" (1 Samuel 16:7b).
"Jesus replied, 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. Love him with all your mind'" (Matthew 22:37).
