What does it mean to honor my parents?
Here's the answer:
Honoring your parents means to respect them.
Throughout the Bible, we learn that it is very important for us to honor our parents. We do this by respecting them and obeying them in word and action. We should seek to honor our parents because it brings God glory.
Exodus 20:12 says, "Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long time in the land the Lord your God is giving you."
We are called to honor our parents, but honoring our parents does not include parents who hurt you or parents who want you to do something that contradicts the Bible. If you find yourself in that situation, talk to a trusted adult like a teacher or pastor. They will be able to help you.
