How long did it take for Noah to build the ark? How long was he in the ark?
Here's the answer:
It took Noah anywhere from 100-120 years to build the ark. He was on the ark for 370 days.
Noah was a man who loved God. One day, God told Noah to build an ark because He was going to flood the earth. Noah took God seriously and started building the ark. Noah is recorded as being 500 years old when he started building the ark (Genesis 5:32). The Bible tells us the flood came when Noah was 600 years old (Genesis 7:6). From this, we can tell it took Noah anywhere from 100-120 years to build the ark.
When the flood waters came upon the earth, Noah had already finished the ark. Noah stayed on the ark with his wife, sons, his son’s wives, and two of each animal. Everyone else would have drowned in the flood. God sent the flood upon the earth because he saw the world was filled with evil. God saved Noah, his family, and two of each animal by telling Noah to build the ark.
Noah stayed on the ark for 370 days. After the flood ended, God sent a rainbow over the earth to promise that He would never flood the earth again (Genesis 9:13-16). Each time you see a rainbow, you can be reminded of God’s promise.
Bible Truth
"Noah was 600 years old when the flood came on the earth" (Genesis 7:6).
"By the 27th day of the second month the earth was completely dry. Then God said to Noah, 'Come out of the ark. Bring your wife and your sons and their wives with you. Bring out every kind of living thing that is with you. Bring the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground. Then they can multiply on the earth. They can have little ones and the number of them can increase'" (Genesis 8:14-17).
"I have put my rainbow in the clouds. It will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Sometimes when I bring clouds over the earth, a rainbow will appear in them. Then I will remember my covenant between me and you and every kind of living creature. The waters will never again become a flood to destroy all life. When the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it. I will remember that my covenant will last forever. It is a covenant between me and every kind of living creature on earth" (Genesis 9:13-16).
