As a kid, how should I respond to temptation?
Here's the answer:
God's Word, the Bible, tells us how to respond when we are tempted to sin and disobey God.
This is a great question, because every day we are faced with temptation. The Bible is our biggest help! In Psalm 119:11 says, "I have hidden your word in my heart so that I won`t sin against you." Reading and memorizing God’s Word will help us stand against the temptations that come our way.
Another way to resist temptation is prayer. In Mark 14:38, Jesus told Peter to watch and pray so that he wouldn`t fall into sin when he was tempted. Ask God to help you stand strong and be obedient to Him!
Another important thing to remember is to not put yourself in situations where you know you might be tempted to sin or hang out with people who will try to get you to do things you know are wrong (see Proverbs 1:10-16 and 1 Corinthians 15:33).
The good news is that even when we do give in to temptation, our Heavenly Father is always waiting with forgiveness because of what Jesus did for us by dying on the cross and rising from the dead for our salvation!
Bible Truth
"Watch and pray. Then you won’t fall into sin when you are tempted. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak” (Mark 14:38).
"You are tempted in the same way all other human beings are. God is faithful. He will not let you be tempted any more than you can take. But when you are tempted, God will give you a way out. Then you will be able to deal with it" (1 Corinthians 10:13).
