What is suicide?
Here's the answer:
Suicide is when people end their own lives.
Sometimes adults—and even kids—feel very sad. They don’t think life is worth living and so they decide it would be better to be dead.
If you have been thinking about committing suicide, death is not the answer to your problems. Satan may tempt you to give up and feel hopeless, but he is the father of lies and you should not listen to him! Many people would miss you if you died—even family and friends who might sometimes forget to tell you how much they love you.
Even if you wish you had more friends or a different kind of family, know that God loves you and wants to be your perfect Father who never gives up on you or stops loving you. Even when other people seem to forget you or mistreat you, God is always there. God can be your perfect Father and your best friend if you accept His Son, Jesus as your Savior. Everyone’s life is precious. God made each person in His image, to be a reflection of Him! God says that murder is wrong—even if we murder ourselves. God’s Son, Jesus Christ, loved you so much He allowed Himself to be killed on the cross so that we could live in freedom (from sin) here on the earth and then be with him in heaven when we die (in God’s timing, not our own). God wants you to be alive on the earth right now because He has special plans for your life! If you choose to end your life, then you are telling God you do not care about His plans for you and you are not willing to trust Him when life seems difficult. God wants to help you and show you His love.
If you are thinking about committing suicide, then talk to people you know and ask for help! Tell your parents, a friend, a pastor at your church, a doctor, or a teacher at school. You can also call 911 or the National Suicide Prevention Hotline to get help: 1-800-273-8255.
