What does it mean to abide in Christ?
Here's the answer:
To abide in Christ means to remain in Him.
You become "in Christ" when you believe in Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). The word "abide" means to live or continue. You will never become "out of Christ." If you are a Christian, then you are already abiding in Him.
Abiding also means to have a close relationship with Jesus. By being a Christian, you have a close relationship with Him. Jesus describes Himself as the vine and we are the branches (John 15:4-7). Just like how a branch cannot survive without the vine, we cannot survive without Christ.
By truly abiding in Christ, you will follow Jesus and do the things He wants you to do.
Bible Truth
"I am the vine. You are the branches. If you remain joined to me, and I to you, you will bear a lot of fruit. You can’t do anything without me" (John 15:5).
"I give them eternal life, and they will never die. No one will steal them out of my hand" (John 10:28).
"These enemies left our community of believers. They didn’t really belong to us. If they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us. But by leaving they showed that none of them belonged to us" (1 John 2:19).
