What is a Child of God?
Here's the answer:
A child of God is anyone who has accepted Jesus as their Savior and Lord (John 1:12). Anybody can become a child of God by believing that Jesus died, was buried, and rose (1 Corinthians 15:1-4).
God wants all people to accept His Son Jesus, so that they will become His children. Due to the bad things we do (the Bible calls this sin), we are separated from God (Romans 3:23). When we believe in Jesus and accept Him as our Savior, we are reunited with God and we become His children (Romans 6:23). When we accept Jesus, we beome part of God’s family and we will now live forever with Him.
When you become a child of God, you have a new relationship with Him. You can talk to God anytime you want and He hears you. You can talk to God just as you would talk to your friend. When you are a child of God, you can talk to Him about anything. You can tell Him about anything that is scary, anything that you are worried about, or anything that you are excited about. It is good to talk to Him everyday by praying to Him and you also need to listen to Him by reading the Bible.
Anybody can become a child of God, including you! The only way to become a child of God is by believing in Jesus who died for you, was buried, and rose (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Almost two thousand years ago, God’s Son, Jesus, died for your sins and was raised to life, so that we can become children of God. Think about that... God loves you so much and He wants you to become His child too!
