What is work ethic?

Here's the answer:

Work ethic is how you act and behave while working. A person can either have a good work ethic, working hard, or a bad work ethic, being lazy.

As Christians, we need to have a good work ethic. We need to work at everything as if we were working for the Lord (Colossians 3:23). Working hard is good—so is trying our best. God doesn't want us to become lazy or unproductive in our work. You can have a good work ethic as a kid too! You can do your chores with a good attitude and work hard. You can work hard in school too, always doing your very best.

The Bible tells us that if we do not work, we will not eat (2 Thessalonians 3:10). This is a weighty command. Rather than being lazy with our work, we need to work hard and cultivate a strong work ethic. God has a strong work ethic, as shown in His creation of all things. God is working at this very moment, and so should we (John 5:17).

However, we never need to become workaholics. Workaholics are people who never take a break. God doesn't want us to do this because He tells us to rest. A proper work ethic balances both hard work and rest. When we work, we should also take time to rest. By doing this, we will be ready for the next day ahead.
