What is the Sermon on the Mount? What does it teach us?

Here's the answer:

In Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, He teaches His listeners to be kind, loving, and discerning.

You can read all about the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5-7. Jesus talks about how we can live to please God, how we should pray, and how we should love our enemies. He also talked about how we should not worry, how we should not judge others, and we should not lust after things.

Jesus wants us to follow His teachings that He taught on the Mount. His teachings teach us to store up our treasures in Heaven (Matthew 6:19-24). This isn’t pirate treasure! The treasure Jesus is referring to are the good things we do for Him. We should store up these treasures in our hearts—not earthly treasures.

All of Jesus’ listeners were amazed at His sermon. After you read the sermon, you will be amazed too! Much of what we need to know is included within the Sermon on the Mount. If you want to live a life that is pleasing to God, obey Jesus’ teachings!
