Why did God send the plagues and other horrible things?
Here's the answer:
God used plagues to show His power to people who did not believe in Him.
In Exodus, God used 10 bad things called plagues when Pharaoh and his people disobeyed God and would not believe in Him. After the last plague, Pharaoh obeyed and let God’s people go.
God did sometimes use bad things like plagues in the Bible. He used these bad things to help people know He is real and is powerful. Sometimes these bad things cause people to believe in God. Other times, people stayed bad. God can use even bad things to bring about a good ending (Genesis 50:20).
In Romans 12:21 the Bible teaches, "Don’t let evil overcome you. Overcome evil by doing good." When bad things happen, we are not supposed to give up or stop listening to God. Instead, we do what is right. God is in control of all things, even bad things, and watches over you today.
