What does it mean to love Jesus?
Here's the answer:
To love Jesus means you obey Him and worship Him.
The love Jesus has for us is different from the love you know. Jesus loves us with agape love. Agape is a Greek word and it means unconditional, sacrificial love. God’s love for us is agape love. This means His love for us never changes. It never weakens. He always loves us all the time—no matter what.
To love Jesus is to love Him the same way He loves us. This means we love Him unconditionally. First Corinthians 13:4-8 gives us a good description of the agape love we should have for Jesus. Agape love is not based on how we are feeling. It is based on our will. We all have the choice to love Jesus.
Loving Jesus is shown in our obedience to Him (1 John 5:3). This means we should follow His teachings and listen to Him. Loving Jesus also means loving others. Since Jesus loves us and we love Him, we need to love everyone else too. Following, obeying, and living for Jesus is what it means to love Jesus.
"Here is what love is. It is not that we loved God. It is that he loved us and sent his Son to give his life to pay for our sins" (1 John 4:10).
"We love because he loved us first" (1 John 4:19).
"Here is my command. Love one another" (John 15:17).
